Easy way to learn to play the piano for absolute beginners?

Q. I want to learn how to play the office theme, yet I know nothing about the piano. I can read music pretty well (I play Trumpet in 7th-8th grade band) Is there a site or video on Youtube that can teach me super slow and easy. I have tried some videos but I cannot tell because I have no clue where the keys are. Please help>

A. I think thereâs two options for you:

- Learn the chords for piano. Hereâs a good web sites for that: http://www.looknohands.com/chordhouse/piano/
http://www.8notes.com/piano_chord_chart/

- The other way itâs to use the MIDIs. MIDI itâs like a digital score. Hereâs the steps for that:
1- Search the WEB for the song you like to learn in http://www.midisite.co.uk/
2- Open the file in this software: âSweet Sixteen MIDI Sequencer 3.3.2â that you can download free in http://www.ronimusic.com/download.htm#DL_SWEET_16
3- After that, go to the âGridâ section and youâll see all the notes you need to play for that song displayed in a keyboard inside of the software. All you have to do its repeat the notes displayed.

I learn to play piano like this on my on. You should try it.

Original Question

How can I learn to play piano fast?
Q. What is the best way for a beginner to learn piano? Lessons or do you think its a good idea to learn from youtube?

A. Okay then.

(The people's key?)

Anyway, you may want to first get yourself some books on piano chord basics, or a chart to understand the positioning (chord finger pattern) and octave ranges that can be played. A DVD with basic methods of instruction, or even a performer example at the keyboard will certainly help as an instructional aid.

If you then have a good keyboard with at least a 61-key layout, then you are in good shape to learn and it will provide the 5-octave range, to cover most all music and vocal styles ever played or written, short of concert piano.

Otherwise, anything smaller may do for now, hope it is not less than a 49-key to at least cover the singing voice.

Look for the piano guide system put out by a Scott Houston, 'the Piano Guy', as this particular instructor makes learning a piano less heady or involved and a more relaxed method for anyone wanting to learn piano at any age, or ability.

And as of any instrument of choice, it will usually take a year's time of learning to get to a point of becoming a serious player. A few months, if you are still interested and have the desire to continue at all.

Then, time will become irrelevant once you 'get into' and it becomes a good experience and you are bitten by the bug, and start to just enjoy playing a keyboard of any degree and at any level of accomplishment.

But actual lessons are certainly important and wise to try out if you have the opportunity. But, anyone can prepare with what has been outlined above.

Get to a music store, or GC, and take someone with you who is already into piano to make it all an adventure. And discover what all is on the market of which to choose from to get you started properly.

how easy is it to play the ukulele?
Q. i would like to self teach my self to play the ukulele, and i have already had 8 years of piano.
how hard would it be?
where could i get a used one thats desent?
also if a certin song is with one type of ukulele can it sound just as good with another?

A. Sarah B,
It's really easy to learn to play the ukulele. B/c you play the piano it'll be that much easier b/c you already have finger dexterity.
But, don't get a used ukulele, unless you know what you're looking for. You have to watch out for cracks in the body, warped neck, bad tuners, high frets, etc. Best to go with a new one b/c they're not all that expensive. Not like buying a piano. ;D Anyway, check out a Lanikai LU-21C or 21T. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/navigation/lanikai-ukuleles?N=100001+202826&Ntk=All&Ntt=ukulele&Nty=1 The concert or tenor will work well for you b/c the frets are wider and you're accustomed to stretching your fingers across the keys of a piano. A soprano will work b/c, like I said, you have the finger dexterity but I think you'll like a concert or tenor more. You won't have to cramp your fingers when chording and they also give you a fuller deeper tone b/c their body is bigger.
You can find lessons and chord charts all over the web. Here's a few of my fav.

Sorry, Devon, but there is tons of ukulele stuff on the web. They are a very popular instrument.
Have fun,
