What is the best music generating program?
Q. I'm making a movie, and I'd like a decent soundtrack. What is the best music-generating program for things like Guitar chords and piano excerpts, stuff like that?

I installed LMMS and Hydrogen on my Vista machine last weekend and have made a couple of little (and not so good yet) instrumentals. The LMMS Wiki is excellent and there are a number of tutorials on YouTube for both programs. The main problem was that I downloaded LMMS's newest release and some things shown in the tutorials are a little different in the new version but my old brain figured them out;-) LMMS can be used with a MIDI keyboard. I'm not sure about Hydrogen.

How do you use triads to form a melody?
Q. I am trying to learn how to make a melody using triads. If your song you want to create follows a key signature of F major for example. How would I go about doing this? Would the chord sequence be able to follow this type of pattern.. FAD, GBbD, ADF.. And so on? Am I allowed to change the root note like that but still remain within the scale?
A. well you have an d minor chord first inversion, followed by a g minor chord, followed by an A diminished chord or enharmonic a D major chord first inversion.
Major chords in chromatic progression would be FAC, GBD, AC#E.
I think you are looking for an ascending major scale triad progression.
Look up the CIRCLE of FIFTHS to better understand natural chord progressions.
