how to play jazz piano chords?

Q. I want to learn how to play jazz piano chords?

A. If you know how to play piano chords well, jazz chords are an easy transition. Jazz chords are basic chord structures that have slight changes to alter the sound. For example, take a C7 Major chord. Now instead of playing a B, play a Bb. You're now playing a regular C7...a dominant chord that's very common in jazz. Other common changes are C9 or a D on top....C,b5 or playing a Gb instead of G...the list goes on. There are many books to help you with this process. Go to the local music shop or look online. My favorite site for this is wwbw.com.

From Guitar to Piano Chords?
Q. What would a C7sus be on a piano?
I can't seem to figure it out...

A. You can try the combination of notes C-F-B(flat) or C-F-G-B(flat). I personally like the first choice, because it's more of a transition chord for mellow rock, and used often in organ music. The second choice is a fine one as well, because it looks and sounds like a regular common chord (with the five note included) and could be used in place of Major C in progressions.

If you want to know how to find it out, you take the C major chord (C-E-G) and turn into a C-sus4 (C-F-G) and add the dominant seventh (B(flat)).

P.S. I said above that the chord I was describing was a C-sus4. C7-sus4 is the more common chord. A true C7-sus chord would be C-D-G-B(flat).

Original Question

How do you read these piano chords?
Q. C#m (2 measures) A maj.7 F#m Ab (Ab/C)

How would you play this. Because when I heard a cover of the song on the piano they played these chords but the notes seem to change throughout the song so I got confused. Can somebody tell me how you would play this or tell me how they would transition into notes???

A. C#m means C sharp minor chord which is : C#, E, G#
A maj.7 means A major chord including 7 which is: A, C#, E, G#
F#m means F sharp minor chord which is: F#, A, C#
Ab means A flat major chord which is: Ab, Cb (B), Eb
^ the brackets thing says that you can play this chord ^ or this one:
C major chord which is: C, E, G

Hope this helps!
