Q. It mainly uses the notes E D C and F. I just don't know which chords I should use in the left hand though. Is there a way to decide this? Thanks!
A. You should use the chords for that song. There is no way to know other than knowing the music for that song. Listen to the song while you play chords until you find the ones that are the same as what you hear on a CD or whatever you listen to it on. An E note could be a part of C major, E minor, E major, A minor, A major, or G6.
What would this CHORD be called? My THEORY sucks?
Q. I'm playing it on piano. With my right hand I'm only playing the D above middle C and the G above that. With my left hand I'm playing just hitting two octaves of F. Could you please explain the theory behind it, as well. Thanks.
Yes. The song is in the key of C. However, I'm not playing a B in my chord. As I understand it you're saying that the G dominant (in whatever inversion I'm doing it) consists of the notes G, B, D, & F? By omitting the B does that change what it's called? I need to know so I can write it down. I often forget about songs I've written only to rediscover them months later, but if I have the wrong chord written down I might screw it up.
A. With the notes G D F, it's an incomplete G7. If the F in the left hand, then the chord is in third inversion, and figured bass notation would read G6/2 (it would usually read 4/2, but the B is missing). Chord inversion has to do with which chord tone is in the bass/bottom voice.
gfg, afg, bfg , f#-a-c, what are these chords called?
Q. piano,
A. f#-a-c is a F# diminished chord
b-f-g is a G6/5 chord (7th chord in first inversion)
a-f-g is...what context is this in? It could be a number of things.
gfg- it couild be a G7 if it had a third
Can you give me more context for these chords? I'll come back to check in.
