how to play jazz piano chords?

Q. I want to learn how to play jazz piano chords?

A. If you know how to play piano chords well, jazz chords are an easy transition. Jazz chords are basic chord structures that have slight changes to alter the sound. For example, take a C7 Major chord. Now instead of playing a B, play a Bb. You're now playing a regular C7...a dominant chord that's very common in jazz. Other common changes are C9 or a D on top....C,b5 or playing a Gb instead of G...the list goes on. There are many books to help you with this process. Go to the local music shop or look online. My favorite site for this is wwbw.com.

Original Question

Help learning jazz piano?
Q. Looking for any websites or videos starting with the basics on up. Any advice would also be appreciated..

A. Jazz just means decorated. A christmas tree is a jazzed up tree. Theres a REALLY good book you can get that will take you through exercises, it explains EVERYTHING.
HANON-JAZZ

Hanon also make books for classical, blues and boogie (The blues book will help with the Jazz too!)

In the mean time if your chord says C play CMajor7 instead, if it says Cm play Cminor7 instead.
Major = Major 7
minor = minor 7
If it already says CM7 then make it CM9 instead, and Cm7 would become Cm9 (And remember that any chord that goes ABOVE the number 7 HAS still got the 7 in it! Never take it out!)
The easiest and best way to turn a standard chord into Jazz is to add the next CHORD note on top of the standard chord. Try playing twinkle twinkle little star using CM7 FM7 and G9 instead of C F and G7 and it will instantly sound like jazz!

Heres a chord progression for you.

CM7 Dm7 CM7 Dm7 Em7 FM7 Em7 FM7 and repeat.
Play those chords in your left hand for a whole bar each and then with your right hand play ANY note from the C scale (You can add the occassional F# if you like) and you'll be sounding like a jazz professional in no time)
Once you've got that under control try playing your LH chords with a rhythm to it.

All the best

Original Question

Does Anyone Know Any Jazz Chords On Piano?
Q. On piano or keyboard can anyone tell me any jazz chords because i think they sound awesome. Could you tell me what notes to put my fingers on please?

A. There's no real list of jazz chords per se, but 7th chords (7, min7, maj7, etc) are commonly used in jazz.

To play a 7th chord, play the first, third, and fifth note of the scale (major chord) and add a flatted 7th to it.

The formula for a basic 7th chord is 1 3 5 b7

C major scale = C(1) D(2) E(3) F(4) G(5) A(6) B(7)
So, to make a C7 chord, play C E G and Bb

Formula for a maj7 chord is 1 3 5 7
Formula for min7 chord is 1 b3 5 b7
Formula for maj(min7) chord is 1 b3 5 7

You can usually also substitute 9th and higher (11th, 13th, etc.) chords for most 7th chords (9th chords are 7th chords with the 9th attached)

C7 = C E G Bb / C9 = C E G Bb D
Cmaj7 = C E G B / Cmaj9 = C E G B D
Cmin7 = C Eb G Bb / Cmin9 = C Eb G Bb
Cmin(maj7) = C Eb G B / Cmin(maj9) = C Eb G B D

The are so many other chord types out there though, so don't just rely on these!
