Q. How can I use Guitar Pro v5 to convert piano music out of my church's hymnal into guitar tabs or chords? Any help is appreciated.
Can I scan a piece and have GP play it for me? If not, what software (preferably free) does that, and how can I type the music on GP?
A. Copy the notation into a Guitar Pro track and it will automatically generate the tab for you. There is also a chord finder utility, but that won't generate accompaniment to a simple melody. If there are chord markings in the hymnal of any kind, GP can tell you how to play those chords.
Teaching myself piano. What should I do first?
Q. I can't afford a teacher and I never learn from those stupid "Learn how to play piano" books. The songs irritate me to the point that I will never be motivated enough to play from them, no matter how much I want to learn piano
I basically want to learn entirely from the internet
The problem is, I have no idea where to start. I know the piano keys pretty well, but that's about it. I really struggle with reading music, and I never got it down when I played the guitar as well. Do I just do constant scales for months until I'm ready to do basic songs? Do I practice chords? I am really clueless. If possible, what are some easy songs for absolute beginners? Please don't give me nursery rhymes and things though unless there is really nothing as easy as them.
So really, I'm asking for some direction, like what I should be practicing and a general idea of how long I should be practicing that until I move on (I'm not expecting the time frames to be short). I know practice is a huge part of it as well, and I have a pretty large amount of time to practice. Also if you know of any decent places on the internet that could help give me direction and guidance as well, that would be much appreciated.
Any direction any of you guys could give me would be a Godsend.
A. If you are wanting to learn to play songs right away, then start working on chords. Most popular contemporary songs use anywhere from 4 to 6 chords. If you can learn these 4 our so chords then you have learned the whole song. They all usually repeat these throughout the whole thing.
Type in the name of one of the songs you want to learn in Google with the word chords after it. This will give you the chords to almost any song. Learn the chords in that song. Get good a switching from one chord to the next, and you have got the song down.
If you need help finding the notes to a chord, check out this virtual chord finder: http://www.piano-lessons-made-simple.com/piano-chord-finder.html
All you have to do is click on the chord that you want and it will show you the notes.
Once you have your chords down then you can start focusing on scales. This is where you will be able to start adding more embellishments to your songs. But first, focus on learning the chords. Once you are comfortable there, add scales.
Piano question????Please?
Q. Well i played way back and i want to go back to piano but i know how to play. Its been so long cuz i played flute and guitar web i stopped playing. How do u play chords? I know a minor is keys A C E and lots more but i saw my friend play a melody and she plays the chord with keys A and E only. How many keys do u play in a chord? Is there a special way to call that chord because she said play aminor but like i sed she played only A and E but she called it aminor what is that? Dumb question i know. But its in the back of my mind but its not an interval. Oh and wut do u accompany a chord with? Plz and thankyou(:
A. Here's an online chord finder: http://www.8notes.com/resources/notefinders/piano_chords.asp
Chords are usually three or more notes. That middle one you mention in your A C E chord is required because that's what tells you if it's major or minor. In A major it will be C# and in A minor it will be C. (Technically, a set of two notes is called a dyad, and might be considered a chord in some contexts)
