Is it Easy to play the Uke? and is there any good online lessons?

Q. So, Me and my brother want to play the Ukulele, but i have NO idea if it is hard.
My brother has played Guitar for about 2 years.
And im a Beginner Clarinetist.
The reason i picked Clarinet, is because it was easy.
i HATE hard instruments.

I really Dread having to finger all the Chords, but im sure it will be worth it.
(: thanks so much.

A. JF,
It's as simple as you want it to be. Like anything you can do it if you want to.
First get a decent ukulele. A Lanikai LU-21 or 21C in my opinion is the best for the buck. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/navigatio⦠The 21C is a little larger than the standard soprano 21. It also has a mellower tone and wider frets, making it easier to chord.
Next some simple lessons:

Lots of lessons on Youtube:

Chord chart:
http://www.kunisan.jp/ukulele/eindex.htm⦠You can also access a tuner on this site. Don't get freaked out by all the chords. You don't use that many when you play a song anyway.
Songs: Start with simple songs you know so you don't have to memorize the tune. Simple chords!

I play my ukulele at church for worship. There are other instruments but it adds a little flavor than the regular guitar, bass, piano, and drums.
Have fun,

Original Question

!!!!help with CHORD CHART!!/ reading chord music!!!!?
Q. i need help making songs better, i play chord charts (chord music) for the piano and holding a chord for a measure sounds really simple and prefare to play something melodic with it

so lets say example
E A/E E
Come now is the time to worship

its an example ok

well that sounds reaally simple so does anyone know how to make something sound better

and i know theres piano music for that but theres more than that song that i want to play so uh help anyone?

+10 to best answer ^_^

A. Your note sequence is not actually a chord, its part of a chord. If you play alternate keys on the white keys, they will harmonize. Like C (skip D) E (skip F) G. So C E and G played together will make a C chord.. The notes in the melody can be any combination of these plus others added. The added ones will not be harmony so they can't last long while the C chord is sounding. You can try using 3 chords for a song like C made of CEG and Dm made of DFA and G made of GBD.

So, now compose a melody and change the chords so that most of the notes in the melody are in the chord. It is best to start with C and then end on C. In between you can go anywhere you want with the 3 chords. When you are comfortable with this you can add more chords like Am ACE. Now you can have a more interesting line of music. Try it out.

regards,

Original Question

How do you play the flute without music?
Q. The worship team at my church asked me to play the flute with them, and I'd really like to, except I don't know what to play. They don't have any sheet music for me. They gave me chord charts. Is it possible to play the flute by looking at chords? I can also play piano and guitar. The other instruments I'm playing with are guitars, piano, bass, and violin.
The piano plays off chord charts too. And they already have a violin playing just the melody. I know from experience that a flute and a violin both playing the same thing doesn't sound very good.

A. You can play along with chord charts, if you have knowledge of scales and music theory. Each chord dictates certain scales you can use to improvise parts on the flute.

If you play piano and can read chords, you could play the chords on piano and then play the arpeggios on the flute. Next, you could make up melody lines that fit with the chords given. You could always play along with the melody of the song, although if they have given you only chords to read, you will have to figure out the melody by ear.

This will be a challenge but I think it will be fun for you! Good luck!
