Q. i have this book of piano music and at the top are diagrams of guitar chords. i have recently got a guitar and started learning chords but i was really confused about this. i dont know how to read it or anything. can sumone help me?
A. The book you have is called a "Fake Book". In essence you fake playing the song on the guitar or piano. For instance if you know the song or someone is playing or singing the song, you simply play the chord in the diagram at the point in the song that it is indicated.
My numero uno instrument is the bass guitar but I taught myself how to use the "fake book" to play the guitar and piano.
When you first start using this fake method of playing it will sound choppy and amateurish, however once you get accustomed to it and learn your chords, how to "ventilate" them, open them up, arpeggiate them you will begin to sound like a pro (I play keyboards on a part-time basis with a professional band and they know I don't know a damn thing about keyboards, but they always come to me requesting my services).
Check out this source referenced and don't let anybody bust your bubble.... there will be a lot of people coming at you telling you, "you can't learn to play like that", YES YOU CAN and once you do when you get into the real nitty-gritty of learning music theory it will be a lot easier...

What are the piano letter notes for When I Look at You by Miley Cyrus?
Q. I know its bad to use letter notes but oh well. It would be very helpful if someone could find accurate piano letter notes.
A. If I had 20 minutes and it wasn't 4:40AM, I would give you the "letter notes" because, despite what that other commenter said, it wouldn't be impossible for you to figure out how to use them since you already know how the song sounds like. Also, it's not breaking any copyright laws, no idea where she got that crazy idea from. Unfortunately, I can't do that right now so I'll just give you the chords. It's not that hard to use them, since they have diagrams at the bottom of the page, and you can just figure out the melodies or whatever by ear.

Right Hand: G C G B G B G A F# G C
Left Hand: Em.......G...........D.........C
That's individual notes in the right hand and what chords you play in the left hand to go along with it. Hope this helps you get started.
What's the difference between minor and major?
Q. The chords is what I mean. And how can I tell if it's minor or major?
A. There's only a slight difference as far as where your placing your fingers on a piano or guitar to create a major or minor chord.
As far as how they each sound, most people say that major chords sound bright and royal, while minor chords sound darker and moody.
Get a beginner's book to learning guitar/piano or a DVD. Most books and DVDs have detailed diagrams that will show you how to preform the basic minor and major chords. Sites like musiciansfriend.com sell these.
