Q. my friend wants me to teach her son how to play the piano because his school requires piano lessons in order to be in the percussion section of the schools band. SO WERE DO I START????? ive been playing piano for about 2 years self taught and i know basic stuff such as were notes are on the piano, chords (triads), and major and minor scales. any tips would be helpful thankyou!
A. You are about the most radically unqualified asker of this question I have yet to stumble across in two years of being on Y/A. Others were teen-aged kids with at least five years of lessons.
The answer is you don't - you are self-taught, and basically know so close to nothing about the piano, how to play it, the most fundamental of theory, and zilch about how to teach, a craft apart from being able to play.
Your friend wants you to do it in the hopes of avoiding an additional expense.
Bow out.
Tell your neighbor you are entirely unprepared to teach, and her son is better off learning from someone who knows how to structure the learning progression, This is certainly what the school means and expects when they require 'piano lessons.'
Recommend she inquire of the school or the band director about any affordable teachers in your area, and get back to using your time for your own self-study of the piano.
Best regards.
Are chords on the keyboard added to a song the same way guitar chords are?
Q. I know how to add guitar chords to a melody. But I want start adding keyboard/piano chords to songs as well. Is it done the same as guitar?
I tried to word this as simple and easy to understand as possible. Sorry if it's hard to understand and thank you for answering. =)
A. Pretty much. They're both C instruments and share a lot of qualities. If you have 0 piano experience, start by figuring out the notes on the guitar and transferring them to the piano. You'll be able to see triads, 7 chords, and anything else a little more easily (hopefully! it took me a little time).
What the piano chords to Better that we break by maroon 5?
Q. Just need to piano chords! thanks :) 10 points!
A. Chords are chords regardless of the instrument. For that reason, it can be helpful to look at guitar sites because they're so popular.
Check out the link. You get to see the chord names over the lyrics. You just need to know how to play the chords on piano, that's all. (Hopefully you've got a good understanding of triads and inversions).
