teach myself guitar?

Q. I want to teach myself how to play guitar.
i can't take lessons (no time) because of school and karate.
and if i teach myself, i get like a feeling of accomplishment

i know how to read music because i played piano when i was like 7 but now im 13.

whats a good book to get?
and any tips?

A. No need for books...You have the internet. My first stop would be Vguitarlessons http://www.vguitarlessons.com/ Sign up for the free 12part lessons (extremely helpful) You can find these on youtube also but sighning up allows you to save the vid and it is free! My next stop would be http://www.freeguitarvideos.com/peter-vogl.html Check out the free beginner vids. You'll find the vid "guides and pivots" Very helpful with your chord changes. For tabs and chords I'd recommend http://www.chordie.com/ If you look under resources on this site you'll find a printable chord chart with alternate fingerings for all the chords ( this allows you to choose the fingering for chords that is easiest for you) You'll find the forum very valuable also. The people there are very helpful and it's a Very Clean Site! Don't forget youtube as well! You can find tutorials for anything from basic chords, to scales, to song lessons posted there. I've even got a few song tutorials posted there myself. Well that should get you well under way! Hope it helps! Best of luck with the guitar!! Peace!
