Q. How can I learn how to play the piano, without having to spend money on a tutor? I REALLY don't have money for a tutor. But, it's something about the piano. I kind of feel like its my calling in life. But I don't have any idea how to play, none the less know how to read music! I really appreciate your help.
BTW: I've downloaded Synthesia, but it hasn't been much help. AND since I live with my grandparents, I have an old Grand Piano downstairs that's just sitting there ready to be played!
A. Dude, i learned guitar, piano, bass, and drums without a tutor its defiantly possible so never give up!!! What i did is just watched youtube videos, went to the music store and bought the chord chart for the piano (how i learned chords- EXTREMELY useful) and just played and played and played. Its a lot of work though and can get very frustrating. Im not sure how you would learn to read music though because i already knew music from school... What might help with reading music though is all the acronyms and what not to help you learn the notes. Like "every good boy does fine" < thats treble clef.
-Oh and don't listen to these guys saying that you just need to save up for lessons or that you will most likely stop playing after a year. Ive been playing for 4. and im 16 now.
