Piano chord question ??
Q. Ok what's the difference between finger chord and fingered chord? I mean I asked this 100 times but still no answer. I have this book and it shows the chords ex. C fingered chord and C finger chord what's the difference? And can I play a finger and fingered chord together?
A. I teach keyboard. I think you probably mean a fingered chord and a single-finger chord. A fingered chord plays all of the notes of the chord. If you have a single-finger chord button on your keyboard, by playing the tonic note (the name of the chord) your machine will play the entire chord for you. Depending on the keyboard, the instructions for playing a minor or seventh chord will vary, but they are possible to do too.
No, you can't play a fingered chord and a single-finger chord together, unless your left hand is playing the single-finger chord and your right hand plays the full fingered chord instead of the melody line, which it normally does.
I never teach my students the single-finger chord. By learning the full chord, they also learn how to construct it. I don't let them take short cuts, and they end up with a better understanding.
