Q. Hi I am a pianist(not a professional) and I have always had an interest in learning how to play the piano,so far from teaching myself how to play piano I have learned and mastered the following
1)I mastered how to do and count intervals
2)I mastered and can draw whole,half,quarter,eighth,sixteenth and 30 second notes on paper
I have taught myself a lot about piano,I know TOO much about piano(keyboard) and I am not going to stop learning,I find trying to learn all of those chords too difficult,does anyone have any advice for that,you know when I first printed out one of those worksheets on intervals,I had no idea how to do the worksheet,I would get stressed and mad and stuff,but I kept reading and reading and thinking and then I learned how to do them and that is to count every line and space that the notes are on,as well as the lines and spaces that the notes fall on as well.
A. Listen to piano tunes like "Piano in the Sky" or "The Entertainer". Listening to Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder play piano is awesome. What inspired me was listening to the piano players in our church bring out the soul in the piano.
Question for pianists-What is wrong with me and how do I move to the next level of teaching myself piano?

I am a pianist and I can play piano by ear and from hearing songs on the radio or in movies or on television,I have a Casio keyboard that has a built in key lighting system in it and a 3 step learning system,I have mastered the following songs and I can go to the keyboard and plug it in and just with lights on or off play all of the songs I have memorized by myself, I have printed up worksheets from makingmusicfun.net and I have learned about intervals(at first I put the work sheet in front of me on a clip board and I had no clue how to do it and then I posted questions on Answers about how to do them and then I went back to the worksheet and I was able to do the work sheet,and now I can do those work sheets in a flash,now I am stuck because I want to learn to read music and I don't even know where to start,I need all the advice that I can get?
A. You should learn beginning theory, which includes the basics of reading music notes and symbols. To get started music involves timbre, duration, pitch, and dynamics. These are all elements of the songs you play and hear. Here is the table of contents from my beginning theory book: the staff, notes, pitches, clefs, ledger lines, note values, measure, barline, and double bar, time signature, rest values, dotted half notes, ties and slurs, repead signs, endings, eight notes and rests. These are the very basic. As you learn them, you can apply them to your piano and listening skills that you already have (then you can learn more songs!). This can really help you identify the location of each note, and when you study scales - very important. Of course, YoutTube can always help with those things too. Then you go into chords, intervals... maybe a little composing. :-)
