Q. I would like to know how to play this chord on the piano.
A. A7sus Chord; deviates from a A7 by switching the 3 with a 4.
So instead of A C E G, you get: A D E G
Further explanation:
To create a simple Major Triad you take the 1-3-5 of a scale to make a chord.
In this case: A-C-E
The 7 indicates you flat the 7th degree of the major scale, and the sus or suspended is achieved by replacing the 3 with a 4...
Hope this is useful.
piano question, what is an a7sus, and a dsus... what exactley are you suspending???????///?
Q.
A. A suspension has three components
1) Preparation - the note to be suspended is part of a consonance of the previous chord
2) Suspension - that note is suspended or held into the next beat and is dissonant
3) Resolution - the suspension moves down by step to a consonance
Prep - susp - Resolution
F - G - A
D - D - C#
G - A - A
Sometimes in jazz or pop music you skip the first or last step.
for A7sus instead of having a C# you would have a D. Dsus would be spelled D G A and would resolve to D F# A.
