Original Question

what's the difference between a C9 chord and Cadd9?
Q. i'm really just starting to get to know how to read chords and i'm not in the place to ask anyone around me. i'm trying to use the tabs for a guitar to play the song on a piano so i need exact definitions of the chord instead of instructions of how to finger it on a guitar.

i thought a C9 was a C chord with the 9th added, but then i saw a Cadd9. i don't get it and can't figure it out.

help please :(

A. the difference between C9 and C add 9 is that there is no 7th (Bb) in the C add 9 chord C-E-G-D =Cadd9

Original Question

What are some good chord progressions?
Q.

A. I want to tell you, but I don't know what key you're playing in or even what instrument. For guitar I like: Em7 Em9 Em Em 2X D Cadd9 G Em. On piano I like the diminished 7th's. For violin, I will always love the progression from Pachelbel's Canon in D. I know it's probably one of the most frequently played pieces but I have my reasons. I also like that same progression in voice form. It's nice what the Trans-Siberian Orchestra did with it.
