Q. Hello all, I'm studying music theory on my own and I was wondering if there was any recommended online material i could use to help. More specifically, I was wondering if there was, for instance, online quizzes or flash cards to help quiz myself on the various chords (Am7, C7#5, Em(add9),etc.) in order to really study and learn them rather than just rote memorization which I know isn't that effective. Ideally, if there's something that either shows the chord in writing or the positions of the hands on a piano or guitar (or even both!) and then asks questions, or hides the answer so that it's not just the picture and then what chord it is (I already have that in my books) that would be best.
Thank you!
A. You could try one of these following:

Hope that helps :)
Can anyone here give me tips on how to play a piano for starters or a weblink that gives tips?
Q.
A. I would have to agree with tm99 but you can learn music by studying flash cards. They will help you with sight reading. Also, practice your scales and arpeggios. Chords are important but without them you can not play classical music correctly.
I need more piano lesson games!?
Q. I started teaching piano lessons about a year ago. It's been GREAT so far, and I love it. The problem is, I am running out of ideas. Anyone have any games I can play with my students? Educational games, of course.
Thanks in advance. :)
A. My music teacher has these dice with the names of all the notes on them. Sometimes in class we spell chords with the dice, though I don't see the point of the actual dice in this instance... But you could give each child two dice and have them find the interval between the two note names they rolled!
If they are young children, you could have them walk around town and name all the sounds they hear, or make rhythms or sounds with different objects.
Flash cards or ear training are also always good. As is singing!
